71 Plata, Leones y Pantanos
Session Summary: Business, Aslan, and a Swamp Monastery
PCs present: Den (also playing as Fénix), Pika, Klaiton, Lyra, Yaang-ki, Daijiro.
NPCs present/mentioned: Miria Silverhand, Petyr Vallis, Kasiyl, Eihei the Wise, Fyukh, Krrsh. Utea and Io Drocles also appear (mentioned in the transcript).
Key character or campaign developments (Rebuilding the Kingdom of Drinax):
The crew has managed to repair severe structural damage to the Ginger and upgraded the Maui by installing an onboard workshop. Politically and commercially, they have managed to establish an excellent diplomatic relationship with the Aslan matriarch Utea in Kteiroa, selling her vital machinery. This secures them a safe and allied port on the borders of the Hierate, very close to Drinax, thus fulfilling a major goal of expanding their influence. Additionally, they have resumed active piracy by allying with Miria Silverhand to successfully raid a Floriani League freighter.
Loose ends:
- Pika’s contact in the Hilfer underworld remains active and could provide more targets in the future.
- The Floriani League has been attacked. After the assault, the crew had the feeling that “they took note of our registration,” so they could suffer reprisals.
- The Ihatei faction has fragmented; some have gone to Fantasy and others work as mercenaries in Tyr. Their threat to Drinax has paused, but not completely eliminated.
- It remains to be decided what the crew’s next major destination will be (they are hesitating between traveling to Cordan or toward the Sindalian Main). Den (Fénix) continues to yearn for a ship on par with his old Banshee.
Joke of the Session:
The “Litter Box Incident.” While Den was trying to negotiate over the radio with an Aslan warship, he tried to explain that they were carrying a recycling plant to help clean up the colony. His choice of words (“so we can filter all the poop, all your excrement”) was a diplomatic disaster. Daijiro caused laughter at the table by pointing out the glaring mistake: they had just told a race of proud warrior felines how to manage their toilets, forgetting that, being cats, “they poop in the litter box.” This provoked a tense, immediate boarding.
Scene 1: Market, Repairs, and Scrap
PCs present: Lyra, Yaang-ki, Daijiro, Pika, Klaiton, Den.
NPCs present: KK11 (Broken).
Location: Spaceport (Hilfer / Hilfer System).
Ships mentioned:
- Ginger (Corsair, Captain Lyra / Fénix)
- Maui (300t freighter, Captain Pika)
- Gavilán (Mentioned for scrapping)
Summary:
The crew is in Hilfer licking their wounds. The Ginger is severely damaged and the robot KK11 is destroyed. They spend several weeks managing their resources. Lyra and Yaang-ki go down to the market (which does not yet have a computerized Agora system) to sell engines and fuel processors, managing an excellent deal that earns them over 2 million credits. With that money, they buy 40 tons of pipes and spare parts. Meanwhile, Yaang-ki, Daijiro, Klaiton, and Den get their hands dirty repairing critical hull and cargo bay impacts on the Ginger, as well as fixing the maneuver drive. For his part, Pika spends the time installing a full workshop in the Maui’s hold for future repairs.
Scene 2: Feline Diplomacy in the Frontiers
PCs present: Pika, Klaiton, Den (as Fénix), Daijiro.
NPCs present:
- Utea (Old Aslan matriarch, dull fur, wrapped in fur coats - Archetype: Cunning and pragmatic clan leader).
- Aslan Captain (Young, large, with ceremonial axe and combat armor - Archetype: Proud warrior).
- Eihei the Wise and Fyukh (Mentioned when discussing Ihatei politics).
Location: Spaceport / Camp (Kteiroa / Kteiroa System). Previous refueling stop in (Pourne).
Ships mentioned:
- Ginger (Corsair, Captain Fénix)
- Argos (Type S Scout, Captain Io Drocles)
Summary:
The Ginger, escorted by the messenger Io Drocles in the Argos, jumps toward Kteiroa after refueling in Pourne. Upon arrival, they discover that the system is teeming with Aslan civilian and military ships. After Pika’s comical diplomatic error over the radio, they are boarded by a group of Aslan warriors. Daijiro manages to earn the respect of the leader’s young son through warrior body language, complimenting his axe. Once at the spaceport, Fénix meets with the matriarch Utea. They deliver the valuable recycling and energy machinery, collecting 400,000 credits. Most importantly, they secure an alliance; Utea guarantees them free entry into her territory and updates them on Aslan politics: the Ihatei have lost strength after their failure in Drinax, scattering toward Fantasy or as mercenaries in Tyr.
Scene 3: Quick Hit on the Florians
PCs present: Lyra, Pika.
NPCs present: Miria Silverhand (Confident, aggressive - Archetype: Bloodthirsty veteran pirate).
Location: Orbit / Deep Space (Hilfer System).
Ships mentioned:
- Maui (300t freighter, Captain Pika)
- Mercifuge (Corsair ship, Captain Miria Silverhand)
- Floriani League ship (Large tonnage independent freighter)
Summary:
Thanks to Lyra’s contact in Hilfer, they learn that a valuable independent freighter is about to set sail. The Maui meets in deep space with Miria Silverhand’s Mercifuge. Lyra takes tactical command of the assault. They agree to strike hard and fast before the ship can call for help. The maneuver is a resounding success: they board the ship (identified as belonging to the Floriani League) and in a lightning strike manage to steal cargo worth 240,000 credits. They flee quickly before the system patrols arrive, albeit with the unsettling feeling that the strange Floriani crew members have memorized who they are.
Scene 4: Retreat in the Swamp
PCs present: Lyra, Pika, Den, Yaang-ki, Daijiro, Klaiton.
NPCs present: Miria Silverhand (Archetype: Bloodthirsty veteran pirate).
Location: Swamp / Monastery / Class D Spaceport (Sink / Sink System).
Ships mentioned:
- Maui (300t freighter, Captain Pika)
- Ginger (Corsair, Captain Fénix)
- Mercifuge (Corsair ship, Captain Miria Silverhand)
Summary:
After the successful robbery, the Maui escapes by jumping to Sink, an inhospitable swamp planet. Upon landing in the mud, they discover that the only population are outcasts from the Third Empire and a strange sect of about 800 barefoot and shaven monks who live in a stone monastery. These monks worship the lakes, believe that water is intelligent, and practice ritual drownings. Miria Silverhand meets with them, takes her 40,000 credits as her share of the loot, and says goodbye, announcing that she is heading toward the Sindalian Main for a change of scenery. Days later, the Ginger arrives at Sink, reuniting the entire crew. They spend the weeks studying, training new skills, and debating their next move: hesitating whether to travel to Cordan to attend to noble affairs, or to continue pirating to heavily arm the Maui.
